It all started when Wendy D’Alessandro began telling tales at the office about her two-year-old eating sawdust off the floor and her three-year-old strutting commando down the airplane aisle (She thought passengers were smiling at her daughter because she was so cute!). Write them down! said her boss. So she did, and a generous, patient editor at the Deerfield Beach Observer let her practice her writing chops on a weekly column called The Mommy Chronicles.
That was nearly 15 years ago, and that small South Florida community has been reading Wendy’s humorous, thoughtful, sometimes tear-jerking stories about parenting, motherhood and family life ever since.
Finally, she is bringing The Mommy Chronicles to the World Wide Web and writing her own blog on wendydalessandro.com.
For nearly 20 years Wendy has worked as a writer and public relations consultant in the health care and continuing care retirement industries. She is past assistant editor and copy editor for the Deerfield Beach Observer, former vice president at Skuggen Public Relations in Deerfield Beach, Fla., and former account supervisor at a top PR firm in Royal Oak, Mich. She is also a budding children’s writer.
Wendy is no longer chasing half-naked children down the airplane aisle. Instead, she’s doing something even more exhausting: raising three creative, bright, strong-willed teenagers. All three. All at once.
